The state tax department has announced the implementation of an automated recovery system for Professional Tax (PT) from persistent defaulters, marking a major step in strengthening enforcement. The system will identify repeat offenders through digital monitoring and initiate recovery proceedings without requiring manual intervention. Defaulters with multiple missed payments or non-filing history will be flagged for immediate automated action.
As per the notification, automated recovery measures will include digital demand notices, interest and penalty computation, and direct deduction from registered bank accounts, where permitted by applicable financial regulations. The portal will also generate reminders, attach digital warnings to business profiles, and limit access to compliance services for flagged taxpayers. This system is designed to reduce administrative delays and improve collection efficiency.
Officials stated that businesses and individuals with outstanding dues should clear their liabilities promptly or approach the department for resolution, as once the automated process is triggered, manual overrides will only be considered under exceptional circumstances. The initiative forms part of the state’s broader effort to ensure financial discipline and create a more responsive and data-driven Professional Tax ecosystem.
