The Central Government has officially announced the final deadline for linking Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar, urging all taxpayers to complete the process without delay. As per the latest directive from the Income Tax Department, individuals who fail to link their PAN and Aadhaar before the specified date will face serious consequences, including the invalidation of their PAN. This move is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to streamline financial data, eliminate duplicate PANs, and enhance tax compliance across the nation.
According to the announcement, the last date for PAN-Aadhaar linking has been set as June 30, 2025. After this date, any unlinked PAN will become inoperative, thereby preventing individuals from carrying out key financial activities such as filing income tax returns, opening bank accounts, or conducting high-value transactions. The government has emphasized that this linkage is mandatory for all PAN holders, except for those who are specifically exempted under the provisions of the Income Tax Act, such as certain categories of non-residents and senior citizens above a specified age.
Taxpayers are advised to act swiftly and complete the linking process through the official income tax portal or at authorized service centers. The government has clarified that no further extensions will be granted beyond the announced deadline. Failure to comply could lead to financial penalties and disruptions in accessing banking and investment services. The Income Tax Department has also urged citizens to verify their PAN-Aadhaar status immediately to avoid last-minute technical issues or delays.
