The state government has launched a new initiative to promote timely Professional Tax (PT) payments by offering rebates to early payers. Under this scheme, eligible taxpayers who settle their full PT liability for the financial year before the first quarter deadline will receive a fixed percentage rebate on the total amount. This incentive applies to both salaried employers and self-enrolled professionals, aiming to boost voluntary compliance and reduce enforcement overhead.

According to the notification, a 5% rebate will be credited automatically to taxpayers who pay in full on or before June 30, provided there are no outstanding dues or return discrepancies from previous years. The rebate will reflect in the annual PT ledger and can be adjusted against future liabilities or claimed as a refund if no dues remain. Only taxpayers with accurate and complete filing histories are eligible, and the offer does not apply to partial payments or late filings.

Officials have encouraged businesses, consultants, and individual professionals to take advantage of the rebate window to improve cash flow efficiency and maintain a clean compliance record. The scheme is expected to reduce last-minute defaults and support smoother tax administration throughout the year. Awareness drives and automated portal reminders will support this effort, ensuring broad participation across sectors and regions.
