The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has issued a public notice highlighting common errors encountered during the use of Digital Signature Certificates (DSCs) in corporate filings. The advisory comes in response to a growing number of complaints and rejections related to DSC-linked submissions across platforms like company incorporation, DIN applications, and compliance reports. The MCA emphasized that the correct usage of DSCs is critical for ensuring the validity and acceptance of electronic filings.
According to the notice, frequent mistakes include expired DSCs, name mismatches with PAN records, incorrect certificate class selection, and failure to map DSCs properly with authorized signatories. The ministry advised professionals to verify DSC details before submission and to regularly renew tokens and update user credentials. It also stressed the importance of using only certified devices and official platforms to avoid technical disruptions and legal invalidations.
The MCA urged companies, directors, and practicing professionals to follow best practices in DSC management, such as enabling secure storage, avoiding the sharing of tokens, and conducting pre-verification checks. By addressing these recurring issues, the ministry aims to improve the overall efficiency, security, and legal reliability of digital governance processes, reinforcing the role of DSCs in India’s corporate compliance ecosystem.
