The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has launched a nationwide filing drive aimed at improving corporate regulatory compliance, focusing on timely submission of statutory returns and disclosures under the Companies Act, 2013. The initiative is primarily targeted at companies that have delayed or failed to file critical documents such as financial statements, annual returns, director KYC forms, and resolutions. The drive encourages voluntary compliance by offering a limited-time relaxation in penalties and simplified procedures for filing backlogs.
As part of the campaign, defaulting companies are urged to regularize their filings by submitting pending forms through the MCA21 portal, with specific attention to forms like MGT-7 (Annual Return), AOC-4 (Financial Statements), and DIR-3 KYC. The MCA has indicated that this drive is not only an opportunity for companies to update their records but also a prelude to stricter enforcement actions against persistent non-compliance, including disqualification of directors and striking off of defaulting entities.
The ministry has also enhanced its digital infrastructure to support the increased filing volume during the drive, offering helpdesk assistance and automated alerts. Companies availing the scheme must ensure that all submissions are complete, accurate, and digitally signed, as incorrect or partial filings will not qualify for penalty waivers. The MCA emphasized that this initiative is a step toward strengthening corporate transparency and ensuring that company databases reflect current and legally compliant information.
