The state government has issued a directive mandating that Professional Tax (PT) returns must now be filed along with detailed salary annexures. This new compliance requirement is aimed at improving transparency and ensuring accurate assessment of tax dues based on actual payroll data. Employers are required to upload monthly or quarterly salary records, including employee-wise taxable income and deductions, at the time of return submission.
According to the notification, the annexure must contain names, designations, gross salary figures, and corresponding PT deductions for each employee. The system will automatically verify the totals against the return filed and flag inconsistencies, if any. Returns submitted without the required annexures will be treated as incomplete and may attract late filing penalties and notices for rectification.
Tax authorities have urged all employers to update their payroll systems and coordinate with their finance or HR departments to ensure the timely preparation of annexure files. The updated filing format has been integrated into the state’s PT e-filing portal, and detailed templates have been made available for standardization. This initiative is part of the department’s broader strategy to digitize tax oversight and strengthen accountability in salary-based tax collections.
