The Income Tax Department has rolled out a new TAN Tracker feature in its official mobile app, enhancing convenience and transparency for TAN (Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number) holders. This feature allows businesses, government departments, and other registered deductors to monitor their TAN status, return filings, and TDS compliance in real time, directly from their smartphones. The update is part of the department’s broader push to provide mobile-first solutions under the Digital India framework.
With the new tracker, users can view TAN activity summaries, receive alerts for upcoming filing deadlines, track the status of correction requests, and get notified about compliance mismatches or defaults. The app also allows deductors to generate filing history reports, verify Form 24Q/26Q/27EQ submissions, and access PAN-TAN linkage data, making it a comprehensive compliance assistant. Importantly, the app supports multi-TAN management, making it useful for corporate finance teams managing multiple branches or business units.
Tax professionals and finance officers have welcomed the feature, citing it as a practical step toward real-time governance and paperless compliance. The Income Tax Department encourages all TAN holders to download or update the app, activate two-factor authentication, and regularly use the tracker to stay on top of their obligations. This initiative reflects the department’s commitment to empowering taxpayers through technology, ensuring that TDS/TCS administration is efficient, transparent, and always within reach.
