TRACES Portal Adds New Features for TAN Holders

The Income Tax Department’s TRACES (TDS Reconciliation Analysis and Correction Enabling System) portal has rolled out a suite of new features for TAN holders, aimed at improving the management, monitoring, and correction of TDS/TCS filings. These enhancements are designed to assist businesses, government departments, and individual taxpayers in complying more efficiently with their tax obligations, especially in light of the increasing digitization of tax services. The latest upgrade brings in tools for automated challan matching, bulk PAN verification, and smart correction workflows for filed returns.

Among the notable additions is the real-time validation of Form 26Q, 24Q, and 27EQ, helping users identify errors before submission. TAN holders can now also track TDS certificates (Form 16/16A) issued under their credentials, generate detailed MIS reports, and utilize intelligent dashboards for quarter-wise and deductee-wise data insights. These features ensure higher filing accuracy and significantly reduce the turnaround time for resolving mismatches or defaults. The new correction module also allows online updates of PAN, challan, and deductee details, eliminating the need for paper-based rectification processes.

Tax professionals have praised the TRACES portal upgrades, noting that these tools bring greater transparency, accountability, and efficiency to the TDS/TCS ecosystem. The department has encouraged all TAN holders to log in and explore the new features, update their contact information, and activate two-factor authentication for enhanced security. These additions align with the government’s ongoing push to make tax compliance more taxpayer-friendly and fully digital across India’s diverse business landscape.
