Login to the State PT Portal
- Visit the official Professional Tax or Commercial Tax Department portal of your respective state.
- Use your credentials to log in with your Professional Tax Registration Certificate (PTRC) or Professional Tax Enrollment Certificate (PTEC) number.
- Ensure access is under the correct role—employer or self-employed—to proceed with registration updates.
Access the Registration Amendment Section
- Navigate to the menu labeled “Amendment,” “Update Registration,” “Modify Profile,” or similar.
- Select the appropriate option to initiate an amendment request for the existing registration.
- Choose the type of registration to be updated (PTRC or PTEC) and the specific field(s) to be modified.
Select the Fields for Amendment
- You may be allowed to update details such as:
- Business name or trade name.
- Address of principal place of business or additional branches.
- Nature of business or activity code.
- Contact details (email, mobile number).
- Authorised signatory or responsible person information.
- Business name or trade name.
- Some fields may be editable directly, while others may require approval by the department.
Upload Supporting Documents
- Attach scanned copies of necessary documents to support the requested changes. Common documents include:
- Address proof (utility bill, rent agreement, ownership deed).
- Identity and authorization proof for new signatories.
- Proof of business name change (e.g., ROC certificate for companies).

- File formats and size limits will be specified on the portal.
Submit and Verify with DSC or OTP
- After filling in the amendment form and uploading documents, review the changes for accuracy.
- Authenticate the request using a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) or OTP verification as per the portal’s requirement.
- Submit the amendment application online; a reference number or acknowledgment will be generated.
Track and Download Updated Certificate
- Track the status of your amendment request under the “Application Status” or “Track Requests” section.
- Once approved, download the updated PT registration certificate reflecting the changes.
- Print and store it for audit, licensing, or compliance verification purposes.
