Hello Auditor

What is the way to update PT registration online?

Login to the State PT Portal

  • Visit the official Professional Tax or Commercial Tax Department portal of your respective state.
  • Use your credentials to log in with your Professional Tax Registration Certificate (PTRC) or Professional Tax Enrollment Certificate (PTEC) number.
  • Ensure access is under the correct role—employer or self-employed—to proceed with registration updates.

Access the Registration Amendment Section

  • Navigate to the menu labeled “Amendment,” “Update Registration,” “Modify Profile,” or similar.
  • Select the appropriate option to initiate an amendment request for the existing registration.
  • Choose the type of registration to be updated (PTRC or PTEC) and the specific field(s) to be modified.

Select the Fields for Amendment

  • You may be allowed to update details such as:
    • Business name or trade name.
    • Address of principal place of business or additional branches.
    • Nature of business or activity code.
    • Contact details (email, mobile number).
    • Authorised signatory or responsible person information.
  • Some fields may be editable directly, while others may require approval by the department.

Upload Supporting Documents

  • Attach scanned copies of necessary documents to support the requested changes. Common documents include:
    • Address proof (utility bill, rent agreement, ownership deed).
    • Identity and authorization proof for new signatories.
    • Proof of business name change (e.g., ROC certificate for companies).
  • File formats and size limits will be specified on the portal.

Submit and Verify with DSC or OTP

  • After filling in the amendment form and uploading documents, review the changes for accuracy.
  • Authenticate the request using a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) or OTP verification as per the portal’s requirement.
  • Submit the amendment application online; a reference number or acknowledgment will be generated.

Track and Download Updated Certificate

  • Track the status of your amendment request under the “Application Status” or “Track Requests” section.
  • Once approved, download the updated PT registration certificate reflecting the changes.
  • Print and store it for audit, licensing, or compliance verification purposes.
