Hello Auditor

Can EPF be accessed from multiple jobs?

Unified Account Number (UAN) System.

  • EPF is designed to be managed under a single Universal Account Number (UAN).
  • The UAN remains the same throughout an employee’s career, regardless of job changes.
  • Each job generates a new Member ID, which is linked under the same UAN.
  • The UAN simplifies tracking of EPF balances across multiple jobs.
  • All contributions from various employers are consolidated under one platform.

Handling Multiple Jobs Over Time.

  • When switching jobs, the employee must share the existing UAN with the new employer.
  • A new PF account will be created and automatically linked to the same UAN.
  • Previous PF balances can be transferred to the current account using a request.
  • The EPF system maintains a history of all employers under the UAN.
  • This process ensures continuity of contributions and benefits.

Simultaneous Jobs and EPF.

  • Holding two EPF-covered jobs at the same time is not allowed under normal EPF rules.
  • EPF is designed for one active employment at a time per contributor.
  • If dual employment is detected, EPFO may ask for clarification or corrective action.
  • In such cases, contributions must be made only from the primary employment.
  • Misuse or duplicate entries can lead to administrative complications.

Viewing EPF from Multiple Employers.

  • The passbook section shows employer-wise contributions separately.
  • Each employer’s Member ID and contribution history are displayed.
  • The combined balance across all accounts is available under the UAN.
  • Historical contributions can be viewed for all previous jobs.
  • This helps in maintaining transparency and tracking fund growth.

Important Points for Employees.

  • Always use the same UAN when joining a new organization.
  • Submit Form 11 to declare previous employment and UAN.
  • Monitor contributions from each job and ensure timely updates.
  • Use a consolidated statement to keep track of total savings.

Keep your KYC and contact details updated for continuous access.
