How to check TAN activity logs?
Use TRACES Portal for TAN Activity
- The TRACES (TDS Reconciliation Analysis and Correction Enabling System) portal is the primary platform for accessing TAN-based activity logs.
- TAN holders can log in using their TAN credentials to view detailed records of:
- TDS/TCS return filings
- Challan payments
- Defaults or mismatches
- Certificate downloads (Form 16/16A)
View Statement Status Dashboard
- Once logged in to TRACES, the Statement Status dashboard provides an overview of:
- Filing dates and statuses for each quarter
- Whether the return was accepted or rejected
- Dates of correction filings or defaults generated
- This dashboard acts as a real-time log of compliance actions under the TAN.
Download Justification Reports and Correction History
- TAN holders can access:
- Justification reports to understand reasons for defaults or mismatches
- Correction history showing edits to previously filed returns
- Communications sent by the Income Tax Department linked to the TAN
Use Income Tax E-Filing Portal (TAN Login)
- Registered TAN holders can also log in through the Income Tax e-filing portal to:
- View filing status
- Access submission history
- Track outstanding actions related to TAN compliance
- The portal maintains logs of authentication, upload acknowledgments, and payment references.
Maintain Internal Accounting Records
- For broader monitoring, businesses often maintain TAN activity logs within accounting or compliance software.
- These include internal entries for:
- Deduction entries by date
- Challan creation logs
- Filing and certification issuance dates
- Such records complement government data and support audits or assessments.
