In a move to simplify record-keeping and support compliance readiness, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has released standardized templates for statutory registers to be maintained by Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs). These templates, made publicly available in August 2025 through the MCA portal, are designed to help LLPs comply with key provisions of the LLP Act, 2008. The templates cover critical registers such as the Register of Partners, Contributions, and Changes in Designated Partners, and are particularly useful for small and medium-sized LLPs lacking formal legal support.
The MCA has clarified that maintaining updated statutory registers is a mandatory obligation under the LLP Rules, and failure to do so may attract penalties during inspections or legal proceedings. The newly released templates are pre-formatted in Excel and PDF formats, with guided columns for LLPIN, partner names, contribution details, admission/resignation dates, and corresponding resolutions. These formats are designed to be easy to maintain, audit-ready, and compatible with both physical and digital filing systems.
Compliance professionals have welcomed this move as a practical step toward improving governance practices among LLPs. The templates are part of a broader initiative by the MCA to increase transparency, support standardized compliance behavior, and reduce procedural ambiguities. LLPs are advised to download the templates, adapt them to their internal records, and review them annually, especially ahead of Form 11 and Form 8 filings. The MCA has also planned to roll out sample filled-in formats and FAQs to guide new users and first-time filers.
