The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), in partnership with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), has successfully integrated corporate compliance systems to enable auto-population of key financial data into Income Tax Returns (ITRs). This integration specifically benefits companies filing Form ITR-6 by automatically pulling verified data from MCA filings such as AOC-4 (financial statements), MGT-7 (annual returns), and director-related disclosures. The goal is to streamline the filing process, reduce manual data entry, and eliminate discrepancies between corporate and tax records.

With this enhanced linkage, companies will now find fields related to share capital, reserves, profit and loss details, auditor appointments, and director identification (DINs) pre-filled in their ITR form, based on the latest MCA submissions. Cross-validation protocols ensure that inconsistencies between MCA and ITR data are flagged in real time, allowing companies to correct errors before submission. This auto-fill system also simplifies compliance with newly mandated disclosures like related party transactions, ultimate beneficial ownership, and capital structure changes.

Tax professionals and corporate filers are encouraged to review the pre-filled data carefully and ensure that MCA filings are up-to-date before beginning the income tax return process. The CBDT has indicated that this integration marks the beginning of a more cohesive compliance ecosystem where financial transparency and digital alignment between regulatory bodies will reduce risk, improve data accuracy, and support faster return processing.
