The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has further strengthened its digital infrastructure by enhancing the online claim facility with biometric authentication, aiming to provide a more secure, swift, and user-friendly experience for EPF subscribers. This upgraded system now allows employees to authenticate their identity using Aadhaar-based biometrics, eliminating the need for physical signatures or employer attestation in most cases. The move is part of EPFO’s broader digital transformation agenda to promote paperless and efficient service delivery.
With the integration of biometric verification, EPF members can now submit claims for withdrawals, advances, and pension benefits directly through the Unified Member Portal or UMANG app with improved reliability. The process ensures that claims are validated using real-time Aadhaar e-KYC, which significantly reduces fraud, mismatches, and delays in settlement. This enhancement is especially beneficial for those in remote or rural locations, where access to employer offices or EPFO branches is limited.
EPFO officials have encouraged members to link their Aadhaar and UAN, update their KYC information, and verify bank details to fully utilize the biometric claim process. The initiative aligns with the government’s vision of transparent and technology-driven governance, offering subscribers faster access to their funds in a secure manner. By minimizing procedural hurdles, EPFO’s biometric-enabled claim facility marks a critical step toward modernizing India’s social security administration.
