TAN Inclusion in TDS Dashboards Announced

The Income Tax Department has officially announced the inclusion of TAN (Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number) data in the newly upgraded TDS compliance dashboards, offering enhanced visibility and centralized monitoring for deductors across sectors. This move is part of the department’s broader plan to improve transparency, streamline compliance tracking, and provide real-time insights into TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) activity, particularly for organizations managing multiple TANs or large-scale financial operations.

With this enhancement, the dashboards—accessible via the TRACES portal—will now display TAN-wise filing status, return history, error summaries, challan usage, correction records, and certificate issuance logs. Deductors can easily view compliance health for each TAN, compare quarterly performance, and identify red flags such as delayed filings, PAN-TAN mismatches, or outstanding defaults. The interface also supports downloadable reports, making it easier for finance teams, auditors, and compliance officers to conduct internal reviews.

Tax professionals have welcomed this update, citing that it empowers businesses to manage multiple TANs more efficiently and ensure greater control over location-specific or division-level TDS operations. The department encourages all TAN holders to regularly use the dashboard, reconcile discrepancies, and stay updated on filing obligations and correction timelines. This initiative aligns with the government’s mission to promote digitally enabled, high-visibility tax administration, reinforcing data accuracy and proactive compliance across India’s growing tax ecosystem.
