The income tax e-filing portal has recorded an unprecedented surge in company logins, signaling a peak in corporate compliance activity ahead of key tax filing deadlines. According to data released by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the platform experienced a sharp increase in daily active users, with a majority of logins associated with companies preparing or submitting ITR-6, audit reports, and TDS returns. This uptick reflects increased digital adoption, deadline-driven filings, and the use of newly integrated tools across the portal.
The surge has been attributed to several factors, including recent changes in tax rules, real-time validation features, auto-filled data utilities, and integration with GST and MCA records. Additionally, alerts and compliance dashboards have prompted companies to address pending tasks such as tax regime selection, DIN verification, director KYC, and refund status checks. The high activity window also coincides with the extended reconciliation period for GSTR and ITR filings, prompting many businesses to finalize corrections and submissions during the grace period.
Despite the volume, officials have confirmed that the portal has maintained stable uptime and processing speeds due to recent infrastructure upgrades, with helpdesks and chatbot support handling elevated query volumes efficiently. The CBDT has advised companies to avoid last-minute rushes, validate digital signatures, and cross-check disclosures before final submission. This surge in logins showcases the success of India’s digital tax transformation and the growing reliance of corporate taxpayers on automated, transparent, and real-time compliance systems.
