TRACES Adds New Download Option for TAN Holders

The TRACES (TDS Reconciliation Analysis and Correction Enabling System) portal, managed by the Income Tax Department, has introduced a new download option exclusively for TAN (Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number) holders. This enhancement aims to simplify the compliance process by giving users quick and organized access to essential tax deduction documents, thereby reducing manual effort and processing time during return filing and audits.

The new feature allows TAN holders to download consolidated TDS/TCS statements, justification reports, Form 16/16A generation files, and challan status reports in a single action from the portal dashboard. Previously, these files had to be accessed through multiple menus and requests, often resulting in delays and inconsistencies in data management. The updated functionality is especially useful for corporations, government departments, and professional firms handling large volumes of transactions and multi-period filings.

Tax professionals have welcomed the move, stating it will help ensure accuracy in quarterly return submissions (Form 24Q, 26Q, 27EQ) and facilitate early detection of mismatches or defaults. The department encourages all TAN holders to regularly log in to the TRACES portal, utilize the new download option, and stay current with their filing responsibilities. This upgrade is part of the government’s larger push to provide a seamless, digital-first compliance experience across all tax-related platforms in India.
