Documents Required for TAN Application
No Mandatory Documents for Identity or Address
- TAN application does not require submission of identity or address proof
- The process is based on the accurate filling of Form 49B
- Unlike PAN, there is no need for supporting documents for verification
- The application is processed based on the data entered in the form
- Physical signature or digital authentication is sufficient for processing
Form 49B – The Core Requirement
- Official application form prescribed for TAN registration
- Must be filled accurately with business name, type, and address
- Should include correct details of the deductor or collector
- Needs to be signed by the authorized signatory
- Errors in the form can lead to rejection or delay
Acknowledgment for Online Application
- After online submission, an acknowledgment is generated
- Must be printed and signed by the authorized person
- To be sent to NSDL (Protean eGov) office for verification
- Acts as confirmation of submission of application
- No other physical documents are required unless requested
Authorization for Company or Firm Applications
- Applications made on behalf of companies or firms must be signed by an authorized official
- Designation details must be mentioned in the form
- Helps identify the legal person responsible for TDS or TCS compliance
- No separate authorization letter is needed unless specifically requested
- Acts as an internal validation of authority
Correction or Change Requests
- If modifying an existing TAN, proof of the change may be requested
- Documents like address proof or authorization letter may be needed
- Depends on the nature of the correction being made
- NSDL may ask for additional documents for validation
- Ensures authenticity of the updated details in the TAN database
