Hello Auditor

What format must design drawings follow?

General Requirements

  • Drawings must clearly depict the shape, configuration, pattern, or ornamentation.
  • They should represent the design as applied to the specific article.
  • All views (front, rear, side, top, bottom, perspective) must be provided.
  • Each view must be numbered and labeled correctly.
  • The design must be shown without any descriptive or functional text.

Technical Specifications

  • Drawings must be in A4 size paper with a clear margin.
  • The image or representation should not exceed the defined margins.
  • Ink used should be black with strong contrast and clarity.
  • Line drawings or high-quality computer renderings are acceptable.
  • Photographs are permitted only if they clearly show the design features.

Content Restrictions

  • No explanatory text or dimensions should appear on the drawings.
  • Backgrounds must be plain and free from distractions.
  • Branding, logos, or identifiers must not be included.
  • Drawings must not show mechanical parts unless they are part of the design.
  • The focus must be on the visual appearance, not the function.

Representation Rules

  • Each drawing must be numbered as a separate representation.
  • Representations should be filed in duplicate along with the application.
  • They must be affixed to the application form or uploaded digitally.
  • The views should align with the article’s actual form and proportions.
  • Consistency across all views is mandatory for clarity.

Submission and Compliance

  • Drawings must be submitted with Form 1 during registration.
  • Non-compliant drawings can result in rejection or delay.
  • Amendments may be requested by the Controller for clarity.
  • All representations become part of the public Design Register.
  • It is advisable to seek expert drafting for complex designs.
