Electronic Application Submission
- The e-TAN process refers to the online application method for obtaining a TAN (Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number).
- Applicants can fill and submit Form 49B electronically through authorized online portals.
- This eliminates the need for physical submission and streamlines the process for businesses, individuals, and government entities.
Digital Data Entry and Validation
- The applicant enters details such as:
- Name of the entity or individual
- PAN
- Type of deductor (e.g., company, firm, individual)
- Contact information and official address
- Name of the entity or individual
- The system validates the data and provides a confirmation screen for review before final submission.
Payment of Application Fee
- A non-refundable fee is paid online as part of the e-TAN process.
- Payment modes include credit/debit card, net banking, UPI, or other authorized digital gateways.
- Successful payment generates an acknowledgment number for tracking.
Submission and Document Dispatch
- In some cases, a physical copy of the acknowledgment, signed by the authorized person, must be sent to the processing center.
- Alternatively, if e-KYC or digital authentication is enabled, no physical documents may be required.
Allotment and Communication
- Once processed, the TAN is allotted within 5 to 7 working days.
- The applicant receives the TAN allotment communication via email or SMS.
The TAN can then be used for all TDS/TCS filings, challans, and certificate issuances.
