Hello Auditor

What is the method to track PT filing history?

Access the State’s Professional Tax Portal

  • Visit the official professional tax or commercial tax portal of the respective state where the registration is held.
  • Log in using valid credentials linked to the Professional Tax Registration Certificate (PTRC) or Enrollment Certificate (PTEC).
  • Ensure the login corresponds to the correct certificate type and business entity.

Navigate to the Filing or Compliance Section

  • After logging in, go to the section labeled “Returns,” “Compliance,” or “Filing History.”
  • Select the appropriate registration category (PTRC or PTEC) based on your taxpayer classification.
  • Access the list of return periods to view filed, pending, or overdue filings.

Filter by Period or Financial Year

  • Choose the financial year or date range for which you want to track the PT filing records.
  • The portal will display the status of each return period, showing whether the return was filed, pending, rejected, or not applicable.
  • View the return summary including challan reference, payment status, and filing date.

Download or Print Filing Records

  • Download or print the return acknowledgments and filing summaries for each period from the portal.
  • Save records digitally for audit readiness and internal reconciliation.
  • Keep track of the challan numbers and return IDs for future cross-verification.

Verify Consistency with Payment Ledger

  • Cross-check the filing history with the payment ledger or tax paid summary available in the account.
  • Ensure all payment entries are correctly mapped to the corresponding return periods.
  • Discrepancies, if any, should be resolved by contacting the state tax authority.
