Hello Auditor

What is the way to obtain PT clearance certificate?

Login to the State Tax Portal

  • Visit the official professional tax portal of the state where your business or professional activity is registered.
  • Use your PTRC (Professional Tax Registration Certificate) or PTEC (Professional Tax Enrollment Certificate) credentials.
  • Ensure that all filings and payments are completed up to the current date before proceeding.
  • Some portals may require multi-factor authentication for secure access.

Navigate to the Clearance Certificate Section

  • After login, go to the menu labeled “Certificate Services,” “Downloads,” “Taxpayer Services,” or “PT Clearance” depending on the portal structure.
  • Click on the link for “Apply for Clearance Certificate” or “Request for PT Clearance”.
  • Select the appropriate registration type: PTRC for employers, PTEC for self-employed individuals.
  • Ensure that all returns are filed and dues are cleared, as the system verifies compliance history.

Submit the Application Request

  • Fill in the necessary details such as registration number, PAN, period of clearance required, and business address.
  • Upload any supporting documents if required, such as proof of payment or last return filed.
  • Confirm the declaration that no dues or liabilities are pending for the specified period.
  • Submit the application; a reference number or acknowledgment receipt will be generated.

System Verification and Approval

  • The system will automatically check:
    • Return filing status
    • Payment reconciliation
    • Any pending dues, penalties, or notices
  • If discrepancies exist, the request may be rejected or kept pending until resolved.
  • In some states, a manual officer review may be initiated before certificate issuance.

Download the Clearance Certificate

  • Once approved, go to the “Certificate Issuance” or “Document Downloads” section.
  • The PT Clearance Certificate can be downloaded in PDF format, bearing official seal, date, and reference number.
  • The certificate serves as proof that the taxpayer has no dues pending and is compliant.
  • This document is often required for government tenders, license renewals, or business transactions.
